what if we joined forces?

Hey all,
Since last September’s IF: Inspiration Festival in New York City, many people have wanted to know what’s next. Here are some notes that I wrote on a napkin this past week, during a flight somewhere between New York, Austin and Montreal. Here’s some food for thought..

On January 8th, a group called FLOW flew to Texas to meet up with Austin’s entrepreneurial community. They had heard about our New York IF events and asked me to participate in a meeting aimed at building a creative community that acknowledges, leverages, and cultivates Austin’s role as a center for entrepreneurial education and empowerment. Hmmm, what exactly does that mean?? Luckily, the question was posed to the all of the attendees, not just me and it’s up to the entire creative community to chime in with an answer that we can all agree upon. And yes, that includes you! In fact, to me, the process by which we all answer that question is part of a larger community building experiment that I and IF : Inspiration Festival are excited to be a part of. Here’s an idea of what our community members are committed to:
o We intend to collaborate in an ongoing, sustainable way, with benefit to all involved and the missions, products, services of our network of entrepreneurial friends.
o Our principles, practices, and skills are rooted in innovation, creative interdependence, friendship and love for humanity, which is at the core of “liberating the entrepreneurial spirit for good.”o We are committed to promoting sustainable peace, and prosperity through our projects.
o We acknowledge and respect the power of ideas, and are committed to collaborating and innovating with others.
o We cultivate creative interdependence, a network of friends, committed to growth, development, learning, empowerment, creative expression, and success; that of each other; and that of the community.

For New Yorkers, you’re invited to a creative community building event on January 31st, between 5-8pm.
The evening will feature brief presentations and lively dialog on “liberating the entrepreneurial spirit for good” featuring you! Keep checking in here for more details on the upcoming NY event. I’ll also post video snippets of that first Austin meeting shortly on this site.. Meanwhile, feel free to tag any inspiring images, blogposts, etc with inspirationfestival ..
